Free code editor · Built on VS Code

Shiriken IDE

Claude, Codex and NVIDIA AI models are one click away — and so is every project you own.

See all releases · No account needed · No API keys bundled

Two things it does really well

Start an AI helper in one click. Open any project in one click. Reach your keys with one shortcut. That's the whole idea.

  • Codex harness One click starts Codex with full access, plus its own resume button.
  • MiniMax Code harness One click starts MiniMax Code with the models you set up in it, such as DeepSeek.

Get started in 3 steps

Never used a code editor before? That's fine. Follow these in order.

  1. 1

    Install it

Click Download for Windows above, open the file, and click through the installer. If Windows shows a blue warning, click More info, then Run anyway.

  2. 2

    Connect your AI

Click the key icon in the left bar to open the Keys panel and paste any keys you have. Or just click the Claude or Codex button at the top and sign in when asked.

  3. 3

    Open your projects

Click the shuriken icon in the left bar and pick your projects folder once. After that, one click opens any project.

Questions

Windows says “Windows protected your PC.” Is that normal?

Yes. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows this warning for new apps. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Do I need API keys?

No keys are bundled with Shiriken. Claude and Codex use your own sign-in. For NVIDIA, Groq, OpenRouter or Cerebras, paste your keys in the Keys panel — they're stored in your computer's secure keychain.

Is it free?

Yes, the IDE is free. If you use an AI provider, that provider bills you directly.

What is it based on?

Shiriken is built on the open-source VS Code (Code - OSS). Extensions come from Open VSX.

When is the Mac version coming?

Windows comes first. The Mac download will appear on this page as soon as it's ready.

Is there any support or warranty?

No. Shiriken is experimental and has been in daily use for the last year. As always, use it at your own risk — see the disclaimer at the bottom of this page.
